Motivational Interviewing

This workshop introduces the practitioner to Motivational Interviewing as a technique to assist and support clients who are experiencing ambivalence, resistant or fearful about change.

Practitioners will develop skills relating to the basic principles and practices of Motivational Interviewing and how these can be applied to their work context and practice. 

Learning Outcomes

  • A deeper understanding of Motivational Interviewing

  • How to identify a client’s stage of change

  • Identify appropriate strategies to progress a client through the Process of Change

  • Understand the role and processes of Motivational Interviewing

  • Apply basic motivational techniques to address resistance, ambivalence

  • Developing meaningful goal setting
